My name is Ege, and I was married when I was 14 years old.
When the time came for me to give birth to my first child, I labored for six days. On the seventh day, I finally traveled to the hospital, but it was too late. My baby was dead and I had developed a condition called obstetric fistula.
I could no longer control my bladder. Every day I lived in humiliation. No one spoke to me, but everyone talked about me like I was an outcast. I thought I had been cursed by God for something I had done.
I remember asking God, ‘Why do you hate me?’ I thought about suicide. Everyone I knew rejected me and said I that I had no future . . . that my life was hopeless.
Take a moment, right now, to learn more about young women, like Ege, and the struggle to overcome the cultural stigma of child-birthing injuries like fistula.
Through World Help’s Safe Motherhood Program, women who have been ostracized by their communities—sometimes for years—are finally finding healing and hope.
Victims are identified, given access to reconstructive surgery, empowered to provide for themselves through vocational training . . . and most important, taught the love of Jesus Christ.
Your partnership through World Help Gifts can make an immediate difference in the lives of these women, providing a safe place to stay during rehabilitation, regular Biblical training sessions, an audio Bible, program literature and resources, professional counseling, support to re-enter their respective communities, and much, much more.
By partnering with us today, you can help give a woman her life back! Can you imagine a greater Christmas gift?
“After living in misery for years I am finally healed . . . and I am happy, Ege tells us. “I want to tell other women living with fistula that there is still hope and that God loves them.”
A life restored. Hope rekindled. That’s the power of your investment.
We hope you’ll choose to get involved today.
